Website privacy notice

Last updated

In short: churchsight.com uses Google Analytics to count visits and demo requests, with Google signals and ad personalization turned off. If you email us, your message reaches the ChurchSight team and is used to answer you. We don't sell personal information or use it for advertising.

What this notice covers

This notice covers this website, churchsight.com, and the hello@churchsight.com mailbox. It does not cover:

  • the ChurchSight dashboard at app.churchsight.com, which churches use under their agreement with ChurchSight; or
  • attendance information gathered at a church's services with ChurchSight, which that church's own notices describe. Some churches publish a consumer health data privacy policy at an address under churchsight.com/privacy/health-data/; that policy, not this one, applies to what it describes.

Website analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-NKNLFW3Y2P) to learn how many people visit, which pages they read, how they found the site and how many ask for a demo. We look at it in aggregate, to improve the site.

What Google Analytics collects

  • The pages you view, when, and the page or search that brought you here.
  • Your device type, browser, operating system, screen size and language.
  • Your approximate location (country, region and city), which Google works out from your IP address. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
  • A random identifier kept in a cookie, so repeat visits from the same browser are recognised as one visitor.
  • Clicks on "Request a demo" and "Contact us" links, recorded as a generate_lead event with the link's text and where on the page it was. Analytics does not receive your email address or anything you write: your own email program sends that.

How we have set it up

  • Google signals is off, so Analytics does not combine your visits with your Google account or follow you across devices.
  • Ad personalization is off, and the site carries no advertising tags, so your visit is not used to show you ads.
  • Analytics keeps event-level data for 14 months and then deletes it. Aggregate reports, such as monthly visit totals, are kept longer.
  • Analytics is linked to Google Search Console, which reports, in aggregate, the Google searches that showed or led to the site.

Google processes this data under its own terms. Its privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services explain what Google does with it.

Cookies and browser storage

Name Set by Purpose Kept for
_ga Google Analytics Tells one browser's visits apart from another's 2 years
_ga_NKNLFW3Y2P Google Analytics Keeps track of the current visit 2 years

Your choices

Fonts and hosting

The site's typefaces come from Google Fonts, so your browser fetches them from Google's servers, which receive your IP address and browser details as part of that request.

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub logs the IP address of visitors to GitHub Pages sites for security purposes. The domain's name servers and email forwarding are provided by Cloudflare.

Email to hello@churchsight.com

Mail sent to hello@churchsight.com, or to any other churchsight.com address, is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to the ChurchSight team's mailbox.

  • What we receive: your email address and name as your email program sends them, your message and any attachments, and the delivery details every email carries.
  • How we use it: to answer you, to arrange and hold a demo if you ask for one, and to keep a record of the conversation. We don't add you to a mailing list, and we don't share your message outside ChurchSight beyond the email services that carry and store it.
  • How long we keep it: while we are in touch with you and afterwards as a business record. Ask us and we will delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell personal information or share it for advertising.
  • There are no forms on this site: the only way to send us information is by email.
  • The church privacy policies under churchsight.com/privacy/health-data/ carry no analytics or other scripts.

Your requests

To ask what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, write to hello@churchsight.com. Analytics data is tied to a random cookie identifier rather than your name or email address, so we usually cannot find it for a particular person; clearing your cookies or using the opt-out above stops it being collected.

Children

This site is meant for church leaders and staff and is not directed to children.
